Why this page exists
mt5 apk download is growing at +679% year-over-year (6,600 searches per month). metatrader 5 download apk is growing at +517% YoY (also 6,600/mo). That is a lot of people looking for the same thing — and a lot of fake APKs waiting to steal their trading account credentials.
This page explains the only safe paths, and why the unsafe ones exist.
What happened with the Play Store (2024)
In 2024, Google removed MetaTrader 4 and several MetaTrader 5 broker-branded apps from the Google Play Store in some regions. The stated reason was compliance with Google’s financial-services app policies. MetaQuotes published a statement confirming the removal of MT4 from the Play Store was initiated by Google, and that MetaTrader 5 remains available in most regions through the official MetaQuotes developer account.
The result: users who had MT4 or MT5 already installed kept a working version. New Android users in affected regions could not install via the Play Store and began searching for APK alternatives — which is where the malware risk enters.
The safe installation paths (in order of preference)
Option 1: Check the Play Store first (recommended for most users)
MetaTrader 5 (developer: MetaQuotes Software Corp) remains available in the Play Store in most regions as of May 2026. Before doing anything else, search “MetaTrader 5” in the Play Store and check whether the official MetaQuotes version appears.
How to verify it is the real app:
- Developer name: MetaQuotes Ltd
- Package name: net.metaquotes.metatrader5
- Download count: 50M+ installs
If you see it and the developer matches, install from there. Do not sideload if the Play Store option works.
Option 2: Download from MetaQuotes directly (official APK)
MetaQuotes publishes the official MT5 APK on their website: metatrader5.com/en/mobile-trading/android/. This is the same binary as the Play Store version, signed by MetaQuotes. Steps:
- On your Android device, go to Settings then Security then enable “Install unknown apps” for your browser (Chrome or Firefox)
- Visit metatrader5.com/en/mobile-trading/android/ in your mobile browser
- Tap “Download for Android” — this downloads the signed APK from MetaQuotes servers
- Tap the downloaded file and install
- Disable “Install unknown apps” after installation (re-enable only when you need to sideload again)
Option 3: Download broker-branded MT5 from your broker’s website
Most brokers who support MT5 publish their own branded MT5 APK on their website. This is the MetaQuotes MT5 binary with the broker’s server pre-configured. Examples:
- Pepperstone: pepperstone.com then Downloads section
- IC Markets: icmarkets.com then Platforms section
- Tickmill: tickmill.com then Platforms section
The broker-branded version connects to the broker’s MT5 servers by default, saving you the step of manually entering the broker server address. For users with only one broker, this is the most convenient official path.
What NOT to do
Do not download MT5 APKs from:
- Third-party APK sites (apkpure.com, apkmirror.com — even legitimate APK aggregators cannot guarantee chain-of-custody on financial app binaries)
- Telegram channels promoting “free” MT5 or “EA-enabled” MT5 builds
- Any site that asks you to fill in a form before downloading
- Any APK that requests permissions beyond what MT5 needs (contacts, SMS, call log — MT5 does not need these)
Why the risk is real: malware-bundled fake MT5 APKs are a known attack vector. The malware collects your broker login credentials and server address, then either trades against you or withdraws funds. Your broker’s two-factor authentication (if enabled) is the only protection — which is why enabling 2FA on your broker account is non-optional if you trade on mobile.
After installation: connecting to your broker
- Open MetaTrader 5
- Tap the menu (top left) then Accounts then New Account
- Search for your broker’s server name (e.g., “Pepperstone-Demo” or “Pepperstone-Live”)
- Enter your account number and password from the broker’s account-opening email
If you downloaded the broker-branded APK, the server list will already show your broker’s servers.
MT5 vs MT4 on Android — the quick answer
MT5 is objectively better on mobile: 21 timeframes vs 9, more indicators, better order type support, active development. If you are starting fresh, install MT5. Only stick with MT4 if you have existing MQL4 EAs you cannot migrate. See the full comparison: MT4 vs MT5 on mobile.
